University of Cebu Legal Aid Office (UC LAO)

The University of Cebu Legal Aid Office (UC LAO) was established with the thrust of bringing the law closer to the people. It provides legal services and assistance to the underprivileged and marginalized members of society through representation in judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative bodies. It also partners with government, non-government organizations and other stakeholders in providing continuing legal education and legal aid clinics, among others. The office also provides legal opinion on various issues in society.

The UC LAO Clinical Legal Education Program

True to its commitment in providing relevant legal education and in line with the Rule on Law Student Practice under the Rules of Court (Rule 138-A), the UC LAO Clinical Legal Education Program was instituted. It is a full-blown office designed as an opportunity for students of the University of Cebu School of Law to apply their learning and skills in actual cases under the supervision of the handling lawyer.
