The University of Cebu – Banilad will host the Pilot (Mock) Bar Examinations (“Pilot Digital Bar”) which will be administered by the Supreme Court and the Office of the Bar Confidant today in Cebu City.
In Supreme Court Bar Bulletin No. 17, series of 2020, 2020/21 Bar Chairperson, Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen, announced the holding of the Pilot Digital Bar in preparation for the digitalized Bar Examinations in November 2021. The Pilot Digital Bar, which is happening today in 4 different locations, is a small-scale simulation of the actual Bar Examinations using computer software, proctored both physically and virtually.
UC – Banilad campus has been selected as the testing site for the Pilot Digital Bar for law schools in the Visayas. Other testing sites are Ateneo de Manila Professional Schools in Makati City for law schools in the National Capital Region, St. Louis University in Baguio City for law schools in Luzon, and Ateneo De Davao University in Davao City for law schools in Mindanao.
Almost a year ago, the Supreme Court issued Bar Matter No. 3490, series of 2020, officially announcing the regionalization of the Bar exams and the designation of Cebu City as a regional site for the Bar examinations, thus, giving law graduates from the Visayas and Mindanao the option to take the Bar exams in Manila or Cebu City.
