University of Cebu School of Law community mourns the passing of its founding dean

The University of Cebu School of Law community mourns the passing of its founding dean, Dean Adelino B. Sitoy.

As founding dean (2002 to 2007), he started the culture of excellence by molding the pioneer batch of law students to become lawyers who possess a strong sense of responsibility for helping the community, and ethical excellence in upholding the rule of law. His dedication for law reforms and for student empowerment was greatly manifested in his “tough love” and hands-on approach as dean of UC Law. He was pivotal in the realization of the dreams of many law students through the generous scholarship programs offered to outstanding students. In fact, the first two recipients of the famous car prize that the University rewards to topnotchers were from the pioneer batch and second batch of graduates of UC Law.

We are saddened by the loss of a father, a friend, a mentor, a visionary, and a leader who contributed a lot in helping the law school achieve its goal of becoming an institution which can provide affordable quality legal education to aspiring lawyers.

You will sorely be missed, Dean Sitoy. May you rest in peace.

The whole UC Law community extends our deepest condolences to his family.
