UC Law holds historic MCLE Online

The UC School of Law, through its UC Law Center, is currently conducting its 19th Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) program for lawyers. With the theme, “Law Practice in the Time of COVID-19: Is There a Silver Lining?”, UC Law’s current MCLE offering is delivered using an online synchronous platform for the first time. This is made possible through the initiative of the UC MCLE Program Committee, headed by its Director, Atty. Josh Carol Ventura. More than 250 lawyer-participants are expected to complete the MCLE for the 7th compliance period on June 26, 2021.

Continuing legal education is required of members of the Integrared Bar of the Philippines (IBP) to ensure that throughout their career, they keep abreast with law and jurisprudence, maintain the ethics of the profession, and enhance the standards of the practice of law (Bar Matter No. 850, as amended). In November 2019, the Supreme Court issued A.M. No. 19-10-SC (Rules and Regulations in the Conduct of MCLE Online) allowing the conduct of online MCLE as a convenient alternative to traditional MCLE lecture series that provides a flexible way of scheduling the individual MCLE compliance of members of the Bar which is adaptable to their busy schedules. The conduct of online MCLE has never been more important and practical due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The UC MCLE Program was first launched in 2006. Through the years, it has offered innovative continuing legal education solutions that are tailored fit to the changing legal landscape.
