The UC School of Law successfully organized a webinar entitled, “Information Authenticity: In This Day And Age,” yesterday, November 6, 2021. The webinar covered a workshop on fact-checking conducted by Ms. Celine Isabelle Samson of Vera Files and a special lecture on plagiarism conducted by Atty. Amparita Sta. Maria, Ll.M., of the Ateneo Graduate Legal Studies.
The webinar, which was attended by more than 300 faculty and students of UC Law, aimed to further educate law professors and students on the importance of fact-checking and how to validate information given the proliferation of fake news and disinformation, as well as the importance of knowing what plagiarism is, what form it takes, and how it happens especially in an academic setting. The event was made possible through the initiative of UC Law professor, Atty. Myrfi Gonzalez.
At UC Law, we place a high value on academic integrity and thus, adopt and implement a “zero tolerance” policy for any form of academic and/or intellectual dishonesty. We prepare our students not only to become top-notch lawyers in the future, but also lawyers who keep integrity as a life-long commitment.
