Congratulations to our School of Law Dean, Al-Shwaid De Leon Ismael, for being sworn in today, February 10, 2022, as one of the Trustees and Deputy Secretary General of the Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS)! 

Congratulations, as well, to Dean Maria Soledad Deriquit-Mawis and the rest of the PALS trustees and officers! 

The PALS new board of trustees and officers were elected by the deans of more than 120 member law schools during the PALS Virtual Annual Convention held last January 6 & 7, 2022. They took their oath of office before Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo in a virtual ceremony done this morning. 

Dean Shwaid, as he is fondly called by students and peers, has been serving PALS in various capacities, including being the Deans Welfare and Special Interests Committee Chairperson, since he became dean of the UC School of Law in November 2018, just 3 years ago. He also organized the virtual PALS annual convention for two consecutive years.

We are confident that Dean Shwaid wil contribute through PALS reforms and initiatives that will uplift the standards of Philippine legal education.
