The University of Cebu (UC) conferred the degree of Doctor of Laws honoris causa upon Hon. Marvic Mario Victor F. Leonen, Senior Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, during the UC School of Law’s Conferment, Convocation, and Commencement Ceremonies held earlier today. Legal Education Board (LEB) Chairperson, Atty. Anna Marie Melanie B. Trinidad, presented the LEB’s authorization to confer the honorary degree. 

The honorary degree was awarded to SAJ Leonen primarily for being an eminent individual of integrity who has distinguished himself in the field of law, justice administration, governance, leadership, and public service through his outstanding work and exemplary service to society.

The UC School of Law also conferred the Juris Doctor degree to its former graduates under the Bachelor of Laws program and the graduates from School Years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, as well as to the candidates for graduation for School Year 2021-2022.

With the theme “Moving Forward: Convergence and Innovation in Legal Education”, this year’s commencement exercises was held face-to-face (with the green light from the Cebu City Government’s Emergency Operations Center). In 2020 and 2021, commencement exercises were held virtually.
