Philippine Supreme Court awards historical marker to UC – Banilad as 20202/21 Bar exams local testing site
The Supreme Court of the Philippines unveiled the historical marker and awarded it to the University of Cebu – Banilad for being one of the local testing sites in the Visayas during the first ever digitalized, regionalized, and localized Bar examinations held last February 4 and 6, 2022. Organized by UC – Banilad, through its School of Law, the event took place last September 13, 2022, at the Cebu City Sports Club in Cebu City.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo, Senior Associate Justice and #BestBarEver2020_21 Chairperson Marvic Mario Victor F. Leonen, Associate Justice Amy C. Lazaro-Javier, Associate Justice Rodil V. Zalameda, Associate Justice Jhosep Y. Lopez, Associate Justice Jose Midas P. Marquez, and Associate Justice Antonio T. Kho, Jr. presented the historical marker in person.
Former University Chairman and Ret. Supreme Court Justice Regino C. Hermosisima, Jr., UC School of Law Dean Al-Shwaid L. Ismael, UC Director for Finance and Legal and UC Law Professor Atty. Ria Lidia Espina, and UC Legal Counsel and UC Law Professor Atty. Nichol John Burt Ruaya accepted the historical marker on behalf of the University of Cebu – Banilad.
Also present during the ceremony were the Cebu local testing sites coordinators and teams of the Office of the 2020/21 Bar Chairperson, Integrated Bar of the Philippines Cebu City Chapter President Atty. Michelle Mendez-Palmares and Director Atty. Grace Hermosa, the Honorable Judges of the RTCs and MTCCs in Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Lapu-Lapu City, administrators of UC, USC, and USJ-R, and law professors, among others.
During his inspirational talk, CJ Gesmundo also acknowledged the UC School of Law’s outstanding performance in the 2020/21 Bar Exams— producing one excellent passer, 11 exemplary performers, and emerging as the best performing law school nationwide in category 2 based on overall passers.
